Short answers about ZZPass. For step-by-step help, see the support guides.

Getting started

What is ZZPass?
A password manager for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It keeps your passwords, passkeys, 2FA codes and notes, fills them in for you, shares them with the people you choose, and makes sure your family can get in if something happens to you. Everything is encrypted on your device.
Which devices does it work on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, and Mac with macOS 14 or later. Your vault syncs between them through your iCloud. There's no Windows, Android or web version.
How is it different from other password managers?
It's built only for Apple devices, so it uses Apple's own AutoFill and syncs through your iCloud instead of a company server. It also covers the day you can't log in: Emergency Access, a printed Emergency Kit and TimeCapsules. Coming from Apple Passwords? See the difference.
What does my family need?
Each person installs ZZPass for free on their own device and joins your shared group from your invite. With Premium shared through Family Sharing, everyone in your Apple family gets Premium too.
How do I move my passwords in?
From Apple Passwords, 1Password, Bitwarden, Chrome and others, either straight from the other app on iOS 26 and macOS 26, or with an export file. The import guide has the steps for each app.

Pricing

How much does it cost?
ZZPass is free to use, with unlimited passwords, notes and devices, AutoFill, passkeys and 2FA codes, TimeCapsule, a shared group of your own with up to 5 people and 10 items (if you aren't already in one; joining is never limited), up to 5 attachments, and a printed kit to get back into your vault. Premium is $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year and adds Emergency Access, unlimited shared groups and attachments, and the full Emergency Kit with every password and note. One subscription covers up to six people with Family Sharing.
Is there a free trial?
You don't need one. The free plan has no time limit and no cap on passwords, notes or devices. Upgrade only when you want Premium.
How do I get Premium?
In ZZPass on iPhone, iPad or Mac, go to Settings → Account → Subscription (on the Mac, View Plans in the sidebar works too) and choose monthly or yearly. Premium then works on all your devices, with the same account.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose ZZPass and cancel. Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
What happens when Premium ends?
You're back on the free plan. Nothing in your vault is deleted, and Premium features such as Emergency Access and extra shared groups stop being available until you subscribe again.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, find ZZPass and choose to request a refund.

Security and privacy

Can ZZPass see my passwords?
No. Your vault is encrypted on your device with a key made from your primary password and Secret Key, before it syncs through your iCloud. Neither ZZPass nor Apple can read it. Who can see what
What data does ZZPass collect?
Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, if Share anonymous usage data is on (Settings → Security). They go to ZZPass's own open-source server and never include your passwords, notes, names or email. No ads, no tracking and no third-party analytics. Privacy policy
Where is my data stored?
On your devices and in your own iCloud, encrypted before it leaves your device. Your vault is never stored on ZZPass's servers. Those only hold locked keys for Emergency Access and TimeCapsule, when they open, and your email address if you ask for warning emails.
What if I forget my primary password?
On a device that's already set up, type a wrong password once and tap Recover Account? to choose a new one with Face ID or Touch ID. Or use your printed Emergency Kit, which has your primary password on it. Nobody else can reset it, not even ZZPass. Getting back in
How does ZZPass protect me from phishing?
It only offers a login on the website it was saved for, including that site's own subdomains. A lookalike address gets nothing, so if ZZPass stays quiet, check the address. Phishing protection
What encryption does it use?
AES-256-GCM, with your key derived using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 at 650,000 iterations plus your Secret Key. Keys stay in each device's Keychain. The full design is in the security whitepaper.
Is it open source?
The server code is, under the MIT licence: the escrow behind Emergency Access and TimeCapsule, the usage-data server and the uptime monitor. The apps themselves aren't. What you can check

Using ZZPass

How do I turn on AutoFill?
On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords and turn on ZZPass (on iOS 17 it's Settings → Passwords → Password Options). On a Mac, it's System Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords (on macOS 14, Passwords → Password Options). AutoFill guide
Does it work in Chrome and other browsers?
On iPhone and iPad, yes: every browser uses Apple's AutoFill. On a Mac, ZZPass fills in Safari and apps, but Chrome and Firefox may not offer it, so copy the password from ZZPass there.
Does it handle 2FA codes and passkeys?
Yes. Add a 2FA code to a login by scanning its QR code, and it fills in for you on iOS 18 and macOS 15. Passkeys are saved and used like any other login. 2FA codes · Passkeys
How do I share passwords?
Create a shared group, invite people by email or phone number, and add the logins and notes you want them to have. Each person can be Read & Write or Read Only. How sharing works
What else can I keep besides passwords?
22 kinds of things, including payment cards, passports, driving licences, Wi‑Fi, bank accounts and plain notes, with attachments.
How do I make a strong password?
Tap an empty password field when adding a login and ZZPass suggests one. Or open the Generator from the Security tab on iPhone, or the sidebar on a Mac. Generator guide
Can I export or print my passwords?
Yes. Export to CSV or 1PUX from Security → ⋯ → Export on iPhone or File → Export on a Mac, or straight into another app on iOS 26 and macOS 26. Print your Emergency Kit from Security → Emergency Kit; with Premium it includes every password and note. Printing and exporting
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your passwords, AutoFill, 2FA codes and editing all work without a connection, and changes sync when you're back online.

Sync and devices

How many devices can I use?
As many as you like, on both the free plan and Premium.
How do I set up a new device?
Install ZZPass and choose Log In. Scan the QR code from Security → Devices on a device that's already signed in, or type your email and Secret Key, then your primary password. Your vault syncs down from iCloud.
Why isn't my vault syncing?
Check that every device is signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on, and that it's online. ZZPass shows an iCloud warning in Settings when something's wrong with sync.
How do I remove an old device?
On another device, open Security → Devices and sign the old one out. It signs out the next time both devices sync.
Does it use Face ID and Touch ID?
Yes, to unlock ZZPass and confirm AutoFill. Turn it on or off in Settings → Security.

If something goes wrong

AutoFill isn't filling in.
Make sure ZZPass is turned on in AutoFill & Passwords, that the login is saved for that website, and that you're on the real address. Fix AutoFill
A site says my 2FA code is wrong.
Check that your device sets its date and time automatically, then try the next code. 2FA code help
The app won't open or keeps crashing.
Quit and reopen it, restart the device, and install any ZZPass update. If that doesn't help, write to support@zzpass.com.
What happens if ZZPass shuts down?
Your passwords live on your devices and in your iCloud, not on ZZPass's servers, and you can export them at any time.
