Chrome's password manager, from Google's Chrome Help. Checked October 2026.

When Chrome is enough.

It does the basics well. Stay with it if this is you.

You only keep logins

No 2FA codes, cards or passports to look after, and no one who'd need them.

You use Windows or Android

Chrome's passwords follow you to any device. ZZPass is for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

You live in Chrome on a Mac

ZZPass fills in Safari and apps on a Mac. In Chrome there, you copy the password across.

You want leak alerts

Chrome warns when a password turns up in a data breach. ZZPass flags weak and reused ones.

Move over in a minute. Or run both.

Export a copy from Chrome and try ZZPass without giving anything up.

  1. Get ZZPass

Download it free and set up your vault. It syncs through your own iCloud, with no Google account involved.

  2. Bring your passwords

In Chrome on iPhone, open Settings → Password Manager → Settings → Export data and pick ZZPass. Passkeys come too. On a computer, export a file and import it in ZZPass.

  3. Turn on AutoFill

In Settings, choose ZZPass for AutoFill. Your logins fill in across Safari, Chrome and your apps.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Can I keep using Chrome's passwords too?
Yes. Export a copy into ZZPass and leave Chrome as it is while you decide. Once you're happy, remove the passwords from Chrome and delete the export file.
Do my passkeys come across?
From Chrome on iPhone, yes. Use Export data in Chrome's Password Manager settings and pick ZZPass, and your passwords and passkeys move straight across with no file. A file exported from Chrome on a computer carries your logins, but not passkeys.
Does ZZPass fill in Chrome?
On iPhone and iPad, yes: every browser uses Apple's AutoFill. On a Mac, ZZPass fills in Safari and apps, but Chrome may not offer it, so copy the password from ZZPass there.
Is my vault tied to a Google account?
No. ZZPass syncs through your own iCloud, and encrypts your vault on your device with a key made from your primary password. Nobody at ZZPass can read it, and nobody can reset the password and get in.
What does Premium add?
Emergency Access, unlimited shared groups and attachments, and a printed Emergency Kit with all your passwords and notes. It's $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year, and one subscription covers up to six people through Family Sharing.
