For families · End-to-end encrypted

Share passwords
with your family
not the cloud.

Wi-Fi, streaming logins, the alarm code, the joint bank account. Stop texting passwords and posting them on the fridge, keep them in an encrypted shared group only the people you trust can open.

The way most families do it

The four ways
family passwords leak.

Every household runs on a handful of shared accounts, and most of them are passed around in places they shouldn't be.

One password for all

Using the same password everywhere means one compromised account compromises every account. One leak takes everyone down.

Shared spreadsheets

Unencrypted, synced to a cloud drive, with no access control. Anyone who shares the link, today or in five years, sees everything.

Four steps

Set up family sharing
in under a minute.

From naming the group to seeing changes sync across every member's device, sharing in ZZPass takes about as long as making a cup of coffee.

Step 01
New shared group
Family
AES-256 key generated · on device

Create a shared group.

Open the Shared tab and tap New Group. Name it Family, Household, or anything you like. A unique AES-256 encryption key is generated right on your device.

Invited

Invite by name.

Share an invite via Messages, Mail, or AirDrop. Only the people you invite can join, there is no public link option, enforced at the system level.

↑ Encrypted with group key

Add the passwords.

Drop existing items into the group, or create new ones inside it. Your private copy stays put. The shared copy is re-encrypted with the group's key before it leaves your device.

Step 04
Synced · 0.4s

Stay in sync.

When anyone updates a shared password, everyone sees the change automatically through iCloud. No more group-text reminders about the new Netflix password.

What families typically share

Built for the things
you actually share.

Households run on a surprising number of shared accounts. Here's what most families end up putting in their group.

Under the hood

Security your family
doesn't have to think about.

Strong defaults, end-to-end. The architecture matters because the simple thing, sharing the Wi-Fi, needs to stay simple while staying private.

End-to-end encryption

Every item is encrypted before it leaves your device. Not even ZZPass can read what's inside your group.

AES-256-GCM

Per-person key wrapping

The group key is individually re-wrapped for each member with ECIES (P-256). No one ever sees anyone else's private key.

ECIES · P-256

Epoch key rotation

Remove a member, say, a roommate who moved out, and the key ring advances to a new epoch. Everything is re-encrypted under it, so their access ends immediately.

On remove

Owner-signed membership

The member list and keys are signed by whoever owns the group. Devices fail closed and reject anything that doesn't verify, so no one can quietly add themselves.

ECDSA · P-256

Your original stays private

Sharing creates a linked copy. The item in your own vault is never exposed to the group key, stop sharing and it's simply yours again.

Copy-on-share

Invite-only access

No public links, no "anyone with the URL" option. Every family member is explicitly invited and must accept on their own device.

No public links

Zero-knowledge iCloud sync

Data syncs through Apple's CloudKit as encrypted blobs. Your vault never reaches a ZZPass server, and no plaintext is ever in transit.

CloudKit

Each family member, their own keys

Everyone has their own ZZPass account and their own primary password. That's what makes end-to-end encryption actually end-to-end.

Per-account
Emergency access · TimeCapsules

For when life
happens.

TimeCapsules let you share passwords and notes that unlock on a future date, or after a waiting period. Built for digital inheritance, so the people you love can reach the accounts that matter, if you can't.

FAQ

What families
usually ask.

What happens if I remove someone from a shared group?
The group's encryption key rotates automatically. The removed person immediately loses access to the shared vault. Nothing is kept in their copy. Any change re-encrypts everything under the new key, so they can't read new or existing passwords going forward.
Can shared members edit passwords?
It depends on their access level. Members granted read + write access can view and edit the passwords and notes in that group, and their changes sync to every member automatically through iCloud. Read-only members can view and use the items, but can't make changes.
Does every family member need a ZZPass account?
Yes. Each person needs their own ZZPass account with their own primary password, that's what makes end-to-end encryption work. Everyone has their own encryption keys, so no one (not even us) can read someone else's vault.
Is there a limit to how many people can be in a group?
Yes, up to 25 people per group. Each person receives their own encrypted copy of the group key. A couple, a four-person family, or three generations under one roof, all work the same way.
What are TimeCapsules?
TimeCapsules let you share passwords and secure notes that unlock on a specific date, or after a waiting period of inactivity. Designed for digital inheritance, making sure your loved ones can access important accounts if something happens to you.
What platforms does ZZPass support?
iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with native apps for each. Android support is on the roadmap.
Is family sharing free or premium?
Sharing is available to everyone. Free accounts can create one shared group; premium unlocks unlimited groups.
