Print it in two minutes.

On iPhone or iPad, open the Security tab and tap Emergency Kit. On a Mac, click Emergency Kit under Access in the sidebar.
Type your primary password. It's checked every time, and Face ID won't do instead.
Under Type, choose ZZPass Account Information or the full ZZPass Emergency Kit.
Tap Print (⌘P on a Mac) and print it.

You've seen it before: when you created your account, ZZPass showed your kit and asked you to tick I have saved my Emergency Kit somewhere safe.

Keep it like cash.

Page 1 alone opens your whole vault, so whoever holds it holds everything. Lock it up, somewhere you'll still find it in ten years.

Splitting the pages doesn't split the risk. Page 1 carries both your Secret Key and your primary password, and that pair restores the entire vault.

When you need it.

A new device

Install ZZPass, choose Log In, tap Scan QR Code and scan page 1. Your email, Secret Key and password fill in. Tap Log In and your vault syncs down.

A forgotten password

It's printed on page 1. On a device with Face ID on, you can also set a new one without the kit.

No device at all

With the Premium kit, read the password straight off the page and sign in to that website from any computer.

Questions about the kit.

Is the Emergency Kit free?

Yes. ZZPass Account Information, the page that gets you back in, prints on every plan. The full ZZPass Emergency Kit, with every password and note, is part of Premium.

Why does it print my primary password?

So getting back in never depends on your memory. With your email, Secret Key and primary password on one page, you can sign in anywhere, or remember a password you've forgotten. It's also why the page must be locked away.

Can I save it as a PDF instead?

Yes, from the print dialog. Paper is safer, though: a PDF is easy to copy and easy to forget about. If you keep one, keep it encrypted and offline, on a USB stick in a safe.

What isn't in the kit?

Attachments, and the keys inside your passkeys: a passkey is listed by site, but it can't be printed. Everything else in your vault is in the Premium kit.

When should I print a new one?

Whenever you change your primary password, since the old page holds the old one, and from time to time if you rely on the Premium kit's list of passwords. Shred the old copy.

I think someone has seen my kit.

Change your primary password in Settings, then print a new kit. The old page no longer opens your vault.
